The intermingling of the resort areas and the residential area creates an environment that is peaceful and tranquil and yet is a convenient Williamsburg location.

Many amenities are available for the use of the residents, which are provided through the Home Owners Association, HOA.   Peppered throughout the residential neighborhoods of Kingsmill you will find outdoor pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, playgrounds and picnic grounds, all connect by walking and biking trails.

There are multiple recreation centers in the residential areas.  Kingsmill has excellent kids swim teams and swim meets are frequently held at the Mounts Bay Recreation Center.

In addition to the competition pool, there is a lap pool and a pool for toddlers.  The center also has tennis courts and a playground picnic area.  The Mounts Bay Recreation Center is a short walk from the Quarterpath Trace neighborhood on the walking / biking trail.

The Southhall Recreation Center is a non-competition pool with slides and a little kids' pool.  This recreation center also has basketball courts, tennis courts, and a playground.

Kingsmill’s four champion resort golf courses create a wonderful landscaped green space to drive through on your way home from work.  It is truly a beautiful place to live.

One of my favorite ways to unwind at the end of the day is to sit on the park bench by the marina and enjoy the view of the James River.  Kingsmill is located on a bend of the river. Looking up river you see Jamestown Island, the landing place for the Jamestown settlers, and looking down river you can see Fort Eustis.  The view across the river is of lush and green farmland.

The Marina Restaurant

There is a warm weather outdoor restaurant at the marina, a relaxing place to dine on a warm summer evening.  There is also a boat-launching ramp for trailered boats. If you prefer you can rent a slip at the marina.  This is a great location for jet skis.
The marina also features a small beach, picnic tables and charcoal grills.  It is a great treat for the kids.  And for those of us who enjoy sunbathing, it's convenient with ambiance of luxury.

It wouldn’t be Williamsburg if we did not have historical ruins.  The Kingsmill Plantation was named for Richard Kingsmill, who settled this land is1617.  Kingsmill Plantation was the home for four generations of the Burwell family, from 1690 to 1781.  The plantation encompassed 1250 acres planted in tobacco and grain with a wharf and warehouse complex on the James River.  Lewis Burwell III’s grand manor house was built in 1736, but was destroyed by fire in 1844.  It was a two-story 8-room home and encompassed 4800 square feet.

is a gated resort / residential community in Williamsburg.  It really is a collection of many distinct neighborhoods.

We have homes for rent in two of these communities.  Quarterpath Trace is a neighborhood that was designed to have the look and feel of a colonial village similar to that of Colonial Williamsburg.  The Winster Fax neighborhood is a modern style community, which focuses more on tennis and is the closest neighborhood to the resort and marina.  It too is surrounded by golf courses.

Kingsmill Plantation Surviving Dependences of the 1736 Manor House.

The home was constructed of brick with Flemish bond, glazed beaders, jack arches, and beveled windowsills as where the surviving dependences.  The plantation was the subject of numerous excavations by the Virginia Center for Research Archeology from 1971-1975.  A picnic pavilion, a soccer field and golf course flank Kingsmill Plantation.
